Lagos State Government has approved the full resumption of all food markets and non-food markets. The Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this known in a statement issued from the state government’s verified Facebook page on Tuesday.
According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed said: “The Governor decided to further enhance trade and commerce and mitigate recent times’ hardship”. According to the Commissioner, the governor advised the public to adhere strictly to COVID-19 safety protocols.
At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lagos state government shut down all markets in the state to curtail the spread of the virus. The lockdown has since been partially lifted, allowing food markets operate on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, while Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays were for non-food markets.
