Manchester City could be without star striker Erling Haaland as they travel to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Haaland was substituted during Man City’s 0-0 draw with his former club Borussia Dortmund in midweek due to a knock and illness.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, manager Pep Guardiola gave an update on his striker’s fitness.
He said: “He feels better, we are training this afternoon and we will assess. We’ll see how he’s feeling and if he’s fit. After we decide.”
This leaves the door open as to whether Haaland will feature tomorrow afternoon.
He said: “Erling had a bit of fever before the game, Joao as well. I saw him tired, Joao as well. That’s why we change it. In that period we struggled a lot.
“Three things: I saw him so tired. The second one he had a bit of a fever, like Joao. The third, he had a knock in his feet. That is why he wasn’t able to play in the second half.”
Guardiola was not too optimistic post-match when the severity of his injury was unknown.
“I don’t know right now,” the Man City boss said. “I spoke with [the medical staff] at half-time and they were a little bit concerned, but I saw him walking more or less normally.
“We will see.”
Footage from after the game showed the Norweigan limping as he returned to Manchester ahead of Saturday’s game.
After scoring 17 goals in only 11 Premier League fixtures so far this season, Haaland is the most feared man in the top flight.
But his chance to increase that stunning tally further could be thrown into doubt if his injury is enough to sideline him this weekend.
