In the early hours of Sunday, 11 December 2022, the first son of the former military governor of Lagos state, Gbolahan Mudasiru, was killed in a hit-and-run accident. Until his death, he was the co-founder of Vetiva Capital – a company in which he served as Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer.
For those who live around Ikoyi and its environs, it is common to see Olaolu Gbolahan Mudasiru geared up every weekend to engage in his usual ritual – cycling with friends and colleagues. But on this fateful Sunday morning, while cycling with two friends along Bourdilion road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, he was knocked down by what reports claimed was a commercial bus.
According to an official police report made available to the public through the spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, the son of the former military governor, has been confirmed dead, while the other two riders in his company are responding to treatment in a private hospital.
The police spokesman, however, added that no arrests have been made in relation to the death but assured the public to remain calm as investigations are underway.

- Olaolu Gbolahan Mudasiru is the first son of Gbolahan Mudasiru, a former military governor of Lagos State. His father, Mr. Gbolahan Mudasiru, was a celebrated Nigerian Air Force officer. He was appointed as a military governor of Lagos State from January 1984 to August August 1986 under the regimes of General Muhammadu Buhari and General Ibrahim Babangida. His father was born on 18 October 1945 in Lagos and died on 23 September 2003 in London from a cancer-related ailment.
- He was the co-founder, Deputy Managing Director, and Chief Operations Officer of Vetiva Capital Management Limited, a premium investment, and asset management company.
- Olaolu Mudasiru was educated as a Doctor and Investment Banker. His experience in Investment Banking spanned asset management, stock brokering, and other banking spheres.
- He holds an MSc in International Securities. He also has an MSc in Investments and Banking from the ICMA Centre of The University of Reading in the United Kingdom.
- Mr. Olaolu Mudasiru also holds an M.B; B.S. Degree from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. In addition to this, he is an Alumnus of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
- Until his death, he was a dealing member of the London Stock Exchange, a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers in Nigeria.
