At the end of the year, it is time to recap the year in music. These were the ten most played songs on the Spotify platform, according to 2024 Spotify Wrapped.

This is the undisputed number-one hit of 2024. The lyrics of this funky pop song use a metaphor for the coffee drink to describe a feeling of energy, intensity, and addiction.

2 – ‘Beautiful Things’ by Benson Boone

The lead single from Benson Boone’s debut album, ‘Fireworks and Rollerblades,’ takes the No. 2 spot. The ballad, co-written by Boone, Jack LaFrantz, and Evan Blair, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200.

4 – ‘Gata Only’, FloyyMenor and Cris Mj

The solo version by Alan Felipe Galleguillos, known artistically as FloyyMenor (image), was released in December 2023, and the duet with Cris Mj in February of this year. A reggaeton track by the Chilean singers, it talks about chasing a woman and earned them a Billboard Music Award for Top Latin Song.

The American singer-songwriter’s second single from his 2023 debut album ‘I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy’ charts at No. 5 in the Spotify list.

6 – ‘End of Beginning’ by Djo

This song by American actor and singer-songwriter Joe Keery, under his stage name Djo, was released in 2022 as part of the album ‘Decide’. However, it did not gain traction until 2024, when it was widely used on TikTok and entered the charts of several countries in late February 2024.

7 – ‘Too Sweet’ by Hozier

Seventh place goes to Irish singer-songwriter Hozier, who released a catchy song in March 2024 – the first from his fifth EP ‘Unheard.’ The track describes how differences can evolve during a relationship. “You’re too sweet for me,” the singer chants, among other catchy phrases.

9 – ‘Cruel Summer’ by Taylor Swift

The song written by Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and Annie Clark made it to the ninth spot in this list. With synth-pop and industrial music sounds, it was released alongside her seventh studio album ‘FristLover’ in 2019 but became popular in 2023 as a result of ‘The Eras Tour’, which led to it being released as the fifth official single on ‘Lover’ in 2023.

Number 10 goes to this soft rock ballad, written and produced by both American performers with support from D’Mile and Andrew Watt. James Fauntleroy is also listed as the composer of this soulful track.
