FEC Approves the Establishment of 20 Private Universities

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the establishment of 20 private universities across Nigeria during a virtual Federal Executive Council Meeting on February 3, 2021

This was made known by The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, during a Press briefing of State House correspondents at the end of the 32nd virtual council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Mallam Adamu, the approved universities will get their provisional licenses which they would use for 3 years from the National Universities Commission (NUC) while the monitoring and evaluation is ongoing.
The names of the new universities are Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese, Kwara State; Ahman Pategi University, Pategi, Kwara State; University of Offa, Offa, Kwara State;  James Hope University Lagos State; Maranathan University, Mgbidi, Imo State; Claretian University of Nigeria, Nekede, Imo State.

Others include Topfaith University, Mkpatak, Akwa Ibom State; Havilla University, Nde-Ikom, Cross River State;  Mudiame University, Irrua, Edo State; Ave Maria University, Piyanko, Nasarawa State; Mewar University, Masaka, Nasarawa State; Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State; Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano State; Capital City University, Kano State; NOK University, Kachia, Kaduna State;  Khadija University, Majia, Jigawa State; Karl-Kumm University, Vom, Plateau State; and Anan University, Kwall, Plateau State. Also approved are Edusoko University, Bida, Niger State; Philomath University, Kuje, Abuja.
